National Qualifications

Our consultantcy team has had specific experience in developing, writing, piloting and delivering competence-based national qualifications.

Whilst working with Wigan Local Education Authority in 1998, we worked closely with Wigan and Leigh College to produce a Level 1 and a Level 2 award in substance misuse which are now in the National Qualifications Framework, accredited by the NCFE.

Alongside the writing of the standards and competences we produced comprehensive training materials including lesson plans, exercises, portfolio guidance and assessment guidance. This development has ensured consistency in the quality and effectiveness of delivery across the centres who provide these awards and has reduced the amount of time needed for tutor preparation, enabling centres to 'get up and running' swiftly.

We are still engaged with the ongoing delivery of these awards with members of our consultancy team acting as the Chief Moderator, Internal Verifiers and Tutors for a number of further education centres.

In addition to the Level 1 and Level 2 awards we have contributed specific elements to the writing and development of a Level 3 qualification in Substance Misuse which is currently offered by the Open College Network (OCN).
