Consultancy TeamTrish McGirr Trish McGirr began her career in the Health Service. In the mid 1980’s she worked on an inpatient drug treatment unit before becoming a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Substance Misuse providing support and advice to the newly established community drug teams across the North West of England.
Trish went on to manage North Manchester Drugs Team, before leaving the NHS in 1995 to take on the challenge of establishing and developing a multi-agency drug education and prevention team on behalf of the Community Safety Partnership in Wigan.
Trish has been an independent advisor in substance misuse since 1999, when she established Farrel-Dixon Associates Limited to provide specialist strategic and operational level support and development to Drug Action Teams, Crime and Disorder Partnerships and Primary Care Trusts throughout the UK. In addition she has worked on a wide range of local, regional and national projects for the Home Office, Department of Health, Department for Education and Skills, and the National Treatment Agency for Substance Misuse.
Since 2001 she has been an independent member of Lancashire Police Authority, taking a lead role in Professional Standards, training and substance misuse.

Jennifer Woods Jennifer Woods has worked in the drugs field for 18 years and is an experienced multi-disciplinary service manager.
Working as a freelance consultant since 1995, she has carried out service reviews, audits, needs assessments, strategic planning and developmental projects with a recent focus on service effectiveness, quality assurance and performance monitoring to evidence outcomes.
A qualified Health Promotion Specialist and teacher in adult education, she is also Chief Moderator for nationally recognised qualifications in drug awareness studies offered by the national awarding body, NCFE, and was closely associated with the development of the Teaching Primary Care Trust in East Lancashire.

Ron Flowers
Ron Flowers has a special interest in teaching and drug awareness training. He currently delivers teaching on a Level 2 national qualification in substance misuse in two further education colleges in the Wirral and in Chorley and South Ribble.
He is a former police officer with specific experience of working with young people and staff in education settings and in diversionary programmes for young people at risk of criminal involvement.
He has latterly developed close links with Sport England and a number of voluntary sector organisations to develop and deliver specific training around drug issues and drug policy implications for staff. Ron is a trustee of the national charity Solve-it working to raise awareness of volatile substances and reduce the harm caused through their use.

Conal Devitt
Conal has a long track record of successful work in criminal justice and community safety. Previously head of Community Safety in Liverpool, Conal left to take up a prestigious post with the Northern Ireland Office, successfully working through the process of political power-sharing and community cohesion, against a challenging backdrop of different personal and ideological views.
His experience of developing innovative and practical solutions to long-standing problems has earned him a reputation for successfully bringing together partnerships to deliver challenging agendas.
His knowledge and skills are highly sought after at a local as well as national level. We are pleased that he has chosen to join our team to take a lead in developing excellence in community safety.
